Wow, It's almost Halloween!
The team has been busy plugging away at The Low Road. The story is getting more polished and refined every day and additional character and environment animations are adding a lot of life to the scenes. While there's still much to be done, it feels great to start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Leif will be in New York City for the Trick Or Treat: Halloween Game Expo! Come on down to the Microsoft office at Time Square to try out a demo of our point and click adventure game: The Low Road! It’s been a while since our last...
It’s been a while since our last update. We’re working hard on The Low Road and are excited to show off the progress we’re making! Currently we have the majority of the core work on episode 1 completed and are working to polish and add the extensive voiceovers. It’s going to be another few months of hard work before everything is finished but in the meantime we have a teaser image to keep you occupied.
In July we had a large spike in traffic for Pillage the Village, one of our older games. Upon investigating it turned out that Markiplier had done a video of the game. You can check out his video here.
We also saw another cool video by WildWolf109 playing through the original Stick RPG. If you would like a bit of nostalgia or simply want to watch some Youtube content you can check his video out here.

Happy summer! ...
Happy summer!
What better way to start the summer season than to stay inside and play video games all day (sorry to moms everywhere). I've been addicted to Overwatch lately, but maybe one of these days I'll step outside and get some sun. We're super excited to participate in the Steam Summer Sale. We had a great time at GDX and got to...
We had a great time at GDX and got to meet a lot of awesome people! Our booth was set up next to the Max Games guys as well as the creator of Lonewolf Sniper and Tactical Assassin. We love to run into other local developers and see the new games they’re working on.
Our demo for the Low Road showcased well with one or two hiccups. The inventory system we added was very helpful to navigate the storyline and many people played all the way through the demo. The only issue was an odd configuration of mouse clicks that would freeze up the game at the very beginning. The number of people who found this issue was impressive considering none of us found it despite playing through the demo many times. Never undervalue the value of conventions!
Right now we’re working on the story following the demo. Currently our focus is adding the logic behind the scenes and finishing the art of the next chapter. As usual we’re looking forward to being able to share more!

Production continues on The Low Road as...
Production continues on The Low Road as the team works around the clock. We have made considerable progress such as adding an inventory system that helps bring clarity to the flow of the game. We are also brainstorming lots of puzzles that will stump even the best Low Roaders. We’re excited to show off the game and some of the new additions!
A couple of us will be attending GDX here in Edmonton to demo The Low Road over the weekend of May 7th-8th and would love to meet some fans there! We would also like to give a shoutout to MattShea for his Super Motherload series on Youtube. He brings a unique and hilarious style that we would recommend you check out. If you haven’t seen any of his videos or would like to see Super Motherload in action then check out his latest video!
Last week was a little quiet in the XGen...
Last week was a little quiet in the XGen offices, as the majority of our team was out at GDC in San Francisco, where we set up an exhibitor booth so we could put the first publicly playable demo of The Low Road into players' hands. It was great being able to get the team together in one place again, and meeting fans new and old as we showed off the game -- we made a lot of new friends, and met a lot of great people working in the industry~
During our downtime in San Francisco, we visited a variety of tourist hotspots, including Pier 39, Musée Mécanique, and The San Francisco Dungeon. The dungeon was especially interesting as we got to learn about how easily Kaelyn gets scared, and how Leif giggles like a simpleton when he gets singled out for a "demonstration" in front of everybody :) And thanks to Eric's vast knowledge of prime eating establishments, we got to eat at a whole bunch of great restaurants that we'll not soon forget.
It all was really exciting and extremely exhausting at the same time, but we're really stoked about all the positive comments we've received from the media, gamers, and the other exhibitors at the show. Actually, just this morning we heard from one such media outlet that has put together their first impressions of The Low Road from GDC: The Game Advocate
We've received a ton of useful feedback from everybody who played our game, and are feverishly working to tweak things and add content before we take it out to demo again at GDX Edmonton on May 7th & 8th -- we invite anybody interested to come say Hi to us at our booth and try out the game!

It's crunch week at XGen! We are working...
It's crunch week at XGen! We are working our butts off to polish our demo of The Low Road for GDC 2016 in San Francisco. Yesterday we received the great news that The Low Road has been awarded a "Best In Play" award for GDC Play 2016! We are so excited to exhibit an early production demo at GDC Play (booth #PL303) and this award is just the motivation we need as we tie up some loose ends on the demo. Up until now The Low Road has been a pretty well kept secret, we've showed only a couple screen shots here and there, but that ends today: we've released some early production footage on our YouTube page and thelowroad.com. The game is still in production and we're not ready to announce a release date yet, but we can't wait to share with you the progress we've made in the coming weeks and months! Stay tuned!

Howdy!
My name is Kaelyn and I am the wife of Skye Boyes and newly-appointed CEO. I have been working with XGen on the business side for many years and have accompanied Skye to a few GDCs in San Francisco, Taipei & E3 Los Angeles. I love working with the brilliant and creative XGen team on a daily basis; they are the ones who encouraged me to finally make an online introduction.
My background involves doing business operations for various organizations, along with my formal educational training in Business, Sociology, and most recently, Interior Design. I would not describe myself as an avid gamer but an avid game watcher! As a deeply competitive person, the idea of playing games against an experienced opponent like Skye always felt like a losing proposition and best to be avoided. However, my parents are quick to remind me that I was addicted to Mario Brothers as a child and have video evidence of this fact through home movies (a bit of trivia which Skye loved).
Right now, the XGen team is diligently working on our upcoming episodic graphic adventure series, The Low Road. This March, Scott, Jordan, Jed, and I will be traveling to San Francisco for GDC 2016 to demo our first episode at GDC Play (booth #PL303). We invite GDC attendees to visit us at the XGen booth to test the game out before its expected release date in the fourth quarter of this year.

If you want us to feature your Let's Play video of an XGen game — tweet us! We love all of your videos, but the ones with the best production value will have a better chance of being featured.

I hope all of our American friends are...
I hope all of our American friends are having a happy Thanksgiving! Thank you so much for all of your support over the past month and a bit. It has been really touching to hear stories about how Skye will be remembered and how the games he made had an impact on your lives. Stories like these, big and small, are one of the many things that will help motivate us in the years to come as we continue to build upon Skye's incredible legacy. In the mood of Thanksgiving, I'd like to share the speech with you that I wrote for Skye's memorial. Those of you who have felt the impact of this loss may be interested in reading about Skye from the perspective of a co-worker and friend.
